An old pump causing electrical trips in West Kingsdown, Kent

I received a call that an oil-fired boiler in West Kingsdown, Kent, was not firing up and the whole central heating system was tripping the electrics. On arrival I found that once the fuse was changed, the system fired up however tripped after 10 seconds. This led me to believe that the boiler was working fine, however a component within the system was fusing out.

I tested the central heating pump and found this to be the cause. It was an old bronze pump (usually used on secondary hot water returns), and with a quick drain down and change of pipework and pump valves, the new pump was on and working. All done within a couple of hours.
